General Contractors

Member Benefits

General contractor dues investment is based on the firm’s gross construction revenue (GCR) from all public AND private work in Georgia during the firm’s most recently completed fiscal year. Find answers below to commonly asked questions by prospective firms.

Our team would be honored to learn more about your general contracting firm and help answer questions.  Please contact Machell Harper, Senior Director of Member Services, at 678.298.4108 or by email at harper@agcga.org.

Completed applications for membership are presented to the association’s Board of Directors for approval at several times each month.

  • What is the definition of covered work for the purpose of determining my GCR?

Your GCR includes all private and public construction work, whether negotiated or competitively bid, including work done by wholly-owned subsidiaries (that are not association members) and the percentage of your participation in joint ventures. ***If not specifically excluded, all work must be included in your GCR figure.

  • What is the verification method of reporting my firm's GCR?

Traditionally, general contractor firms refer to an audit or CPA generated reports. A firm is welcome to provide this documentation at time of application.

Each year’s renewed GCR form must be signed by the President, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer or an equivalent member of the firm’s executive team. This is to ensure all firms are adhering to the association’s motto of: Skill, Integrity, and Responsibility as we work together to advance Georgia’s commercial construction industry.

  • When is payment due and what are the payment options?

Dues are payable in full or quarterly installments with the full payment due January 31 or quarterly payments due each year on January 31, April 30, July 31 and October 31.

  • How do I report my firm's GCR?

Please review the chart shown at the bottom of this page to learn the appropriate dues investement for your firm based on your GCR from your most recently completed fiscal year.

Each August, a member of your leadership team will be asked to complete a new GCR form representing the most current fiscal year’s volume.

  • When will our firm be invoiced?

Regardless of what time of year a firm joins, an invoice will be provided for 12 months of membership at time of Board approval.

After the first annual anniversary of membership, your firm will be invoiced for it’s second year of membership which represents the remaining months in that calendar year.

Your firm’s third year of membership and all subsequent years are invoiced in early December for the following calendar year’s dues investment.

  • Are my firm's dues a business expense?

Dues payments and other fees are deductible as ordinary and necessary business expense under IRS Code Section 162. Dues and similar payments, as well as contributions and gifts, are not deductible as Charitable Contributions.

  • Is non-payment a form of terminating my firm's membership in the AGC Georgia?

It is not the policy of AGC Georgia to automatically terminate memberships. It is the responsibility of the member to provide written notice to the association’s membership department of company leaderships’ intention to not renew.
