Amerson Supervisor Safety Award

Amerson Supervisor Safety Award

At AGC Georgia, we believe that safety starts with strong leadership. That’s why we proudly present the Amerson Supervisor Safety Award—to celebrate the superintendents and foremen who go above and beyond to protect their crews and ensure every team member returns home safely each day.

Through this program, we recognize field leaders from general and specialty contractor firms who set the standard, lead by example, and make safety a daily priority.

Supervisors who meet the criteria for a Certificate of Commendation for Safety Excellence who attend a celebration ceremony receive a gift and a certifcate for display. The entry portal for this program opens the first week of December, and the deadline to complete nominations is typically the last week of each January.

If you have a field leader who served during the most recently completed calendar year with no lost-time accidents and is a shining example of “safety first,” don’t miss the chance to spotlight their leadership. Help us recognize those who make safety personal.

This award is named in honor of Ron Amerson. He was a proven and well-respected safety professional who worked with AGC Georgia members’ field personnel for many years. After his untimely death in 2001, association leadership honored his legacy by naming our Supervisor Safety Award program after him. Ron was always welcome on jobsites and recognized for his expertise in loss control. Undoubtedly, his dedication to and passion for teaching best safety practices saved lives. He held the Certified Safety Manager designation and was a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, the National Fire Protection Association and was a board member of Georgia’s Northeast Region of the National Safety Council. He was a licensed Georgia State Paramedic and an instructor in Basic Emergency Medical Technique. Ron made a lasting impression on many professionals in the construction industry, and AGC Georgia is proud to recognize field supervisors in his honor.
