Classroom Safety Training

AGC Georgia offers a wide range of safety-focused training throughout the year, open to both members and nonmembers. Many courses are also available in a hybrid format. This means a live instructor teaches in person while remote participants join the session and actively participate in the discussion through Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

Courses cover both basic and advanced topics and are led by experienced instructors, all focused on improving jobsite safety and protecting your workforce. To better serve Georgia’s diverse construction community, several classes are also available in Spanish.

Most sessions are held at AGC Georgia’s training center in Atlanta, however, classes can be offered across the state based on demand. If there is interest in a specific topic, we will coordinate a local class. Private, company-specific training can also be arranged upon request.

For questions about all aspects of AGC Georgia’s training opportunities, please contact Cindy Parham, Director of Safety & Education Services at 678.298.4112 or parham@agcga.org.

Exposure to respirable crystalline silica can cause silicosis, lung cancer, other respiratory diseases and kidney disease. About two million construction workers are exposed in over 600,000 workplaces. OSHA estimates more than 840,000 workers are exposed to silica levels that exceed the new permissible exposure limit. Workers and contractors need to recognize the hazard, understand the risk factors and work safety silica. The rule mandates all construction employers covered by the standard to have a written exposure control plan that designates a competent person. This course provides supervisors, managers and safety professionals the knowledge and tools to comply with the silica standard for construction. Attendees also receive information needed to serve as silica competent persons in order to implement the written exposure control plan required by the standard.
