Award Programs

AGC Georgia and AGC of America provide year-round opportunities to recognize your company and employees for excellence in construction best practices, safety performance, and impactful partnerships. Earning these distinctions enhances your company’s reputation—helping you stand out when pursuing new projects and attracting or retaining top talent. Recognition also boosts employee morale and pride, reinforcing a culture of excellence within your organization.

The AGC Build Georgia Award Program recognizes construction excellence for projects completed in Georgia by association members. Winning projects are announced at AGC Georgia’s Annual Convention each June.

The nomination portal opens each December and project narratives and supporting materials are due each year in late January.

AGC Georgia’s Amerson Supervisor Safety Award recognizes individual achievements in safety excellence by field personnel (i.e. superintendents and foremen) based on no lost time accidents in the previous calendar year.

Nominations for this award are due in mid-January with recipients honored each spring at ceremonies in several locations in Georgia.

AGC Georgia’s SIR Award is the highest honor given to a deserving individual.

A SIR Award recipient exemplifies values embraced by the AGC organization – skill, integrity and responsibility – and has consistently demonstrated outstanding service, industry leadership, and involvement in the community throughout their career.

AGC Corporate Safety Awards are presented in partnership with AGC of America. This program compares contractor members’ safety statistics against data from their peers (similar man-hours and type of work) across the nation to determine the top winners.

Nominations for this award are due in mid-January with the winning firms announced at AGC Georgia’s Annual Convention each June.

The Safety Leadership Award is presented annually to field supervisors who manage one or more project sites with no lost-time accidents or recordables, and demonstrate a commitment to:
— providing a safe work environment
— building a safety culture
— uncompromising leadership
— caring for and respecting fellow workers

This award honors a member who generously gives of his or her time and expertise. It is presented each June at AGC Georgia’s Annual Convention. Individuals earning this award believe in placing their company hat aside and working to do what’s best for the entire industry.

Wes Cobb

Chief Executive Officer
Jerry L. Johnson & Associates

2025 Volunteer of the Year

Excerpted from remarks by Joe Tuggle, 2024-2025 President, during the award presentation at the 2025 Annual Convention…

Wes was very involved with our governmental affairs team during this year’s Tort Reform battle. He visited the Capitol on a regular basis to participate in committee hearings with our legislative team and share his perspective as a business leader with legislators. We were honored to have him join with our staff for the ceremony when Governor Kemp officially signed the tort reform bills into law. Another big legislative initiative for this recent session involved updating the general contractor licensing law. Staff from Governor Kemp’s office asked our team and representatives from the Home Builders Association of Georgia to lead development of all draft language that impacted Georgia’s commercial general contractors and residential contractors code sections. Wes was a great advocate for the industry when we met with the Governor’s staff to share what industry wanted to include in the update. Our work resulted in House Bill 635. The legislation was introduced and passed by the House & Senate this past spring by overwhelming margins and Governor Kemp signed it into law.

Sheridan Construction

2025 YLP Member of the Year

Excerpt from comments by Joe Tuggle, 2024-2025 President, during the award presentation ceremony . . .

During his time as the chair of the Young Leadership Program, he always put integrity ahead of expedience and always listened before speaking. And of most importance, he always asked “What helps the collective team the most?” His peers credit him with an increase in YLP membership in the middle Georgia region as attendance has surged and new volunteers raised their hands. Fellow YLP members shared that anyone who has sought advice from Blake always leaves the encounter clearer, calmer, and more confident and that he builds people up through encouraging words.
